Spending some time alone doesn't always mean you're sad. Every once in a while its nice to have a piece of good ol' solitude. But with temptations just being a click away, its so easy to stay connected, but too difficult to disconnect, with social media eating so much of our time, finding ones piece of mind is quite rare nowadays. Here are 5 good reasons why you need some 'alone time', and the benefits that go along with it.

1. Take it Easy - Even a computer needs to reboot/refresh every now and then, even more so so does the human brain. Relaxing your mind, and clearing off the unnecessary thoughts, would give you time think more clearly and effectively.

2.) Allow you to be more self-reliant- When you're amongst your thoughts, you are allowing yourself to make decisions without anyones help. You become stronger and even more independent, and lessens the need of seeking approval from other people before making a move.

3.) Lowers depression rate- "Alone time", helps shut out the negativity and noise others bring into your life. Throwing out those thoughts, decreases the chances of you getting depressed/sad.

4.) Increases productivity - Being in a calm state of mind, gives way to a more effective self. Avoid pondering on problems and focus on finding solutions. Mute out the perspective of other people and focus on your own, while doing so, you pave a way for your own ideas to flow, and avoid being influenced by external viewpoints.

5.) You get to know more about yourself - Some alone time gives you an opportunity to focus on yourself, to fully accept the reality that surrounds you. For example, being more aware of your capabilities and limitations, and once that state has been reached, you would be more open to change and self improvement.

So I've asked around some Generals on how they spend their alone time...

"Reading a book. It takes me to another world, gives me another life, brings me to every beautiful horizon without having to make a move."

"I recreate dolls and action figures into specific characters. It's a relatively new hobby, and I am still trying to perfect it.  I am satisfied with each completion, though.  As a person from the field of visual arts, the hobby is very stimulating and exciting but very calming at the same time.  You get to churn up fresh creative energy into creating a character in 3D - learning different techniques and learning how to focus in to details.  To some extent, you envision a whole new look for the character, build up on design challenges, and push yourself to implement it.  And when you end up with a good work, you'll feel good all over.  It can be a very mental, physical, and spiritual moment, and it just zaps you into a world of fantasy and creativity. It builds something inside you."

"Sleep and eat anything I want."
